This is a work in progress. This is what I'm currently wearing and experimenting with.
Ant-Man's biggest issue has always been survivability. His meta builds all require him to get in close and use his
. Which makes sense. It has a really high attack speed, does good damage and builds ants quickly. My experience has been using this (especially in cosmic patrols) gets him killed by aoe and passive damage dropped at boss' feet. I wanted to try to take him ranged and this has been doing well in cosmic patrols and clears cosmic terminals solo well. I currently have less than 150 IP slotted. I earned more in CMM last night but didn't assign them yet. All of it is in Attack Speed. My synergies are just the random heroes I've unlocked from random boxes so that is not optimized yet. My enchants and runewords are a mess. Cosmo has not been a good boy. I only managed to get +3 speed (i'd prefer +3 INT) the other pet stats are currently being earned again because I can't get what I want. There is a ton of room for growth.
Gear:
I'm messing around with Spear because his slot 1 has bonuses on it that support being in melee and I wanted to try the pure stat stick of the spear. (Also it's one of the few pieces of decent gear ive gotten so I wanted to use it). His 2,3 and 4 I'm currently using his own unique. The slot 4 seems like its definitely BiS. 2 and 3 also have affixes that seem to be based around playing in melee so I'm looking to see if other items might be better here.
Talents:
Row 1- 2nd talent gives us 10% area damage. We're not using Tiny Takedown so this is the only talent that helps us and almost all of our damage is Area damage.
Row 2- Bouncing Bullet is a damage CD and also a mini escape. I pop this when I get vortexed in during patrols. Can target an enemy out of the melee to get away. This increases its damage and provides a small buff.
Row 3- Tanker Throw gives us another DoT layer. DoTs are our steady continous damage.
Row 4- Large Drone Strike - Drone strike does a ton of damage but its static on the ground. This increases its size so it has more opportunity to do its damage.
Row 5- Ants for days. Our big damage numbers come from maxing our Ant Meter and unleashing For the Colony. This talent gives us a 15% chance for Ant powers not to spend Ants. Its nice when you can throw three Ant Tidal Waves in a row because this procs 2x back to back.
Being ranged makes it alot easier to stay alive. I dont even run a dodge - which definitely gets me killed at times but I can't see where I could slot one in. Basically we do as best we can to keep our 3 DoTs up. Use Bouncing Bullet and Tanker Throw on CD.
When you fill you ant meter throw a tidal wave for a big burst of damage. Use Friends in Low Places to instantly refill your meter to throw a tidal wave.
