I think a lot of people either think there's only a few Rogue builds, or they're intimidated by the sheer number of powers she has and just stick with the few good guides there are. I'm here to tell you there's more builds than just Suntank, Fantankstic, and Summoner. This build is the proof.

Play this build if you like...

  • A lot of aoe. You will have no problem clearing crowds.
  • Gearing that is a bit different from most builds.
  • Burst, especially if you get some nice cooldown refreshes. Even without cooldown refreshes, Rogue's signature is a very powerful aoe.
  • A build that isn't too difficult to gear and has good substitutes for the boss and raid items.
  • A powerful hero. It's no secret that Rogue is one of the best heroes in the game.

Don't play this build if

  • Going out of your way to collect powers in Limbo and Muspelheim is unappealing.
  • You don't like RNG or volatile damage. Sometimes you'll get super lucky and it'll feel like your cooldowns are always available, other times you'll get almost no refreshes and just have to wait.
  • You want the best single target dps Rogue build. Summoner Rogue still has that crown.

Build Explanation

The basic concept of this build is to stack a bunch of spirit to power up Infernal Meteor and the Weakpoint Targeting trait. The build has a few low cooldown impact powers to increase our chances of the Genius Intellect trait triggering and getting an instant cooldown refresh on all of our Impact powers.

Like many other Rogue builds, this build uses mostly area-tagged powers so we can make good use of the Armor Grenade. The one exception is Dempsey roll because that's a high-damage Impact power on a low cooldown.

There is also a build variant that doesn't go so hard on spirit-stacking which is also good damage. Simply replace  with , the  with , and take the points away from Deep Thought in the Mind Gem into more Fighting in the Soul Gem.

 - This is your left-click/spender/filler power. It's decent damage and has a triple-stacking dot, making it good filler in between cooldowns, and still has some use even when you're winning the lottery and firing off constant Impact powers. It's also a decent aoe that is pretty good at clearing trash. This power is easy to get, find someone who has X-23.

 - This is your dash and used in nearly every Rogue build aside from Summoner. Why? It's a teleport and aoe dot layer.  Good for clearing trash as you travel, and has all the teleport benefits such as going through walls. It's worth noting. Against bosses this is a good attack to start with. You can get this power in the Dimensions Collide Terminal, Infernal Limbo, or when a special Limbo event occurs in midtown.

 - You see this buff on most Rogue builds and with good reason, it's very strong. You would think Lawyer Up  would be better because it buffs Impact powers, but the crit buff and energy damage proc on Ragin' Cajun are too strong. This power is easy to find, grab it from someone who owns Gambit.

 - This power doesn't seem like a hard-hitting cooldown power, but after adding all the damage instances, this power is a very high damage power. It's good clear, but the 12 second cooldown is a long wait if you don't get lucky with refreshes. Beta Ray Bill is a team-up. Currently in Tahiti he's easy to get, but when 1.0 hits, he might not be very common and you'll either need someone who bought him, or you'll have to purchase him for yourself.

 - This power is used less for the AoE and more for the single target damage because the damage is divided by the number of targets it hits. Ironically, this is the one power with a big aoe that you don't want to use against large crowds, or else you'll see miniscule numbers. Infernal Meteor's primary use is a cooldown layer against bosses. That being said, this power is still decent damage when hitting only 2 or 3 targets. You can get this power in the first fight in the Muspelheim raid from Lord Brimstone

Worth noting you want  slotted despite not being used in this build because it lowers Infernal Meteor's cooldown by 4 seconds. You also get Curse of the Hellfire from the first fight, but you guessed it, from Lady Hellfire.

 - Mindless Destruction is mostly for the potential cooldown refresh. The power has a decent aoe, but low damage so don't be surprised if it doesn't clear the weakest enemies on cosmic difficulties. You get this power from the Mindless Titan, who appears in Infernal Limbo, Dimensions Collide terminal, and during specific waves in Hightown and Industry City Patrol.

 - This power is not only a low cooldown making cooldown refreshes more likely, it's also a high damage power. So much so that despite not having an area tag, it's worth slotting into your bar. You get this power from Luke Cage, so it shouldn't be too hard to get. Like Luke Cage's Dempsey Roll, this power is low range so it's really only worth using against elites and bosses.

 - Rogue's signature, and it's a very good signature. Recall Overload is a big aoe that restores spirit with a strong burst explosion at the very end. Rogue can also move while this power is active and it's a relatively low cooldown for a signature so it's good both for clearing trash and fighting bosses.

Rotation

The rotation is pretty simple, mostly hold Crimson Sweep and hit powers off cooldown. I can give you a starting rotation, but it breaks down because of the cooldown refreshes.

To start:  ->  ->  -> hold  ->  ->  ->->  ->  -> hold hit powers off cooldown.

To be honest, the order doesn't matter too much as long you start with Ragin' Cajun for the buff. Basically  on occasion and hit powers off cooldown. If your powers refresh but your signature is up, use  because it's a fast animation, then immediately If  is up right as or right before  is up, wait until after  to use it, or else you won't get the bonus melee procs.

Gear

This build does use a bunch of boss uniques, but there are easy substitutes for all of them. Also, two of the artifacts, Siege's and the grenade, are ARMOR event artifacts so it's a matter of drives and reroll patience to acquire them.

Slot 1: Yep, yet another  holder. If you can't craft one, then her own  or  are decent substitutes.

Slot 2: Thanks to the +spirit, attributes, and high % power duration, Rogue's own  is best in slot.

Slot 3: Despite Rogue not benefitting from any of the attributes from , the power duration and brutal stats make it a good choice. Not a ton of good slot 3 options, there's  or  for tankiness and attributes, and her own slot 3is a decent starter.

Slot 4: With a lot of attributes, brutal stats, and the attack speed proc, Rogue's own are best in slot.

Slot 5: is always a great option for durability and/or intelligence attribute heroes, and Rogue is no exception. However, her own  is very good, and this build has a vulnerability power so no need to substitute an artifact or team-up to apply vulnerability.

Artifacts: It shouldn't be too tough to find any of the artifacts because two of them you buy from a vendor, and both Crossbones and Kurse are common farming targets. but there are good substitutes. I will admit, I did not do a lot of artifact testing so there's a decent chance one of the substitutes might actually be best in slot.

 - Always a good choice for fighting heroes, and Rogue is no exception.

 - Good for the big chunk of crit rating.  is a bleed power so the crit proc will always be up when you're in combat. The crit proc is tied to the damage rating, so reroll until you get a 90%+ roll on damage rating.

 - A good choice for almost any hero, and Rogue qualifies as "almost any hero!" This is another ARMOR event artifact so it's a matter of drives and reroll patience buying this.

 - Rogue has high true brutal chance thanks to Armor grenade, so these are artifacts are both good choices and fill a similar niche.

Cosmic Artifact Affixes: The two most important are -10% signature cooldown and 150 spirit. I personally use -15% spirit costs and +1 attributes to ensure spirit is topped up and for a bit of extra dps. Feel free to go for two ttl affixes if you prefer more survivability.

Starter Artifacts:

Medallion:  is a good substitute for War Skrull. I wouldn't recommend any other options because Rogue really wants power duration for Ragin' Cajun uptime.

Ring:  Xavier Rings are a good substitute, you can purchase them from Dani Moonstar in the Danger Room. My recommendation is a physical + energy or melee + ranged one. The health roll is very important because it determines the crit+brutal proc.

Infinities and Synergies

Infinity:

I have a ton of IP as you can see from the Infinity System tab. However, most people don't have this much IP so here's what I would prioritize.

  • 0-152 IP - 38 points in Temporal Loophole in the Time Gem.
  • 152-302 - 150 points in Mental Focus in the Mind Gem
  • 302-452 - 75 points in Strike Through in the Power Gem.
  • 452-602 - 6 points in Fighting in the Soul Gem
  • 602-802 - 100 Points in Deep Thought in the Mind Gem
  • 802-952 - 150 points in Potency in the Reality Gem.
  • 952-976 - 1 point in each of the infusion nodes (they're on the right in each gem).
  • 976+ - Fighting in the Soul Gem. You can also invest in Mind Over Matter in the Mind Gem and/or Superhuman in the Power Gem. If nothing else, invest 6 points in both of them because that will give you +1% critical and brutal thanks to weird rounding errors.

Synergies: After getting War Machine and Emma Frost for the attributes, we emphasize area damage and more universal damage that applies to us. Good substitute synergies are Magneto, Thor, and Winter Soldier.
