This build revolves around two large autocrit/autobrut powers that cycle up on short 6s rotations. It's all about burst and setting up your windows. In terminals, youll be able to jump in and delete the screen, giving you 6s to reposition and do it again. Over longer sustained damage rotations, the damage falls behind a bit compared to other heroes.
Ranged safety with heavy burst, we love it.

This is a pretty straightforward build....
You live and die by
. Everything you do, is to setup
. When its on CD, you position, kite, setup, and prepare to
.
Skill Explanations:
- Filler. Use when you don't have anything else to do.
- Vulnerability, get this up ASAP.
- Damage on a 8s CD. Something to do between
's
- Damage on a 8s CD. Also hits like a freight train, but not as flashy. Power doop proc.
- Damage I guess. Pales in comparison to our beam of death.
- Damage layer. Apply every 8 seconds. Also regenerates energy which is vital for....
- This is your main damage. With the talent on the 4th row, this thing will always crit, and will be boosted by 20% of your maximum resource. This is why all the gearing choices is to amp up youre resource/spirit reserves, to make this hit as hard as possible every CD.
Rotation:
Maintain Operation: Annihilate up for the vulnerability, and otherwise you're hitting buttons as they rotate off CD. Since Operation: Smash has charges, you can always hold the first charge a bit to reposition without 'wasting' recharge time. The main priority is to effectively use Energy Overload and Operation: Smash, as they auto crit / auto brut and are a large chunk of your reliable burst.
but tldr:
\ \ PRAISE / /![]()
Gearing:
Gearing wise you just are building around your
(and partially O:Smash), so crit damage (crit chance included), brut strike, and brut damage are ideal. Otherwise gearing is pretty flexible, just remember your summons are merely distractions for the enemies, and we live and die by the great ENERGY OVERLOAD
For rings: Stone of Jordan in theory gives you a higher top end for EO and works best when downtime to charge, so for terminal setups. S.H.I.E.L.D Graduation Ring provides similar EO overhead while also buffing the other abilities. They are so close there isnt a clear difference in testing.
For Slot 3: I believe Oscorp Prototype Generator might also be great, but Ive noticed with SoJ rarely getting to max power. Oscorp might let you mess with IP a bit, but its all fine tuning at that point to have as much spirit as possible without capping.
Legendary I had similar results with Golden Bow of Apollo and M'Kraan Crystal, but i think Mkraan will be better outside of a TTK scenario as it gives you a higher Power to stock up to while moving, allowing your burst to be higher.
If youre using i70 Legendaries, I'd suggest using Gungnir for all your hero i70s. The stat weight at i70 is too favorable to use anything else.
Catalyst would be Max Spirit / Spirit on hit / Spirit on Medkit / Energy ideally.
Talents Explained:
Row 1: We pick up our drones as honestly there isn't a much better option. We dont want to use Crush, and we dont plan to talent around dying. The drones act as a decent distraction and are just pad damage when they actually hit the right thing.
Row 2: Mind Eraser and Reboot both work for this build, but I tend to go Mind Eraser as it makes the terminal experience a bit smoother (CC and not being stuck spamming). In sustained engagements reboot sounds great, especially with EO value! But we're limited by how much EO can actually recharge during the cooldown refresh. TTK testing showed Mind Eraser pushing ahead in sustained engagements, Terms showed Mind Eraser feeling better, so we end up sticking with... Mind Eraser.
Row 3: We run Retrofit Servos to turn Smash into a heavy hitter. Focused Microwaves helps with giving us another damage layer, which Ultron desperately needs, but still was not performing nearly as good as having a reliable strong Smash. Also worth noting, the Ultron build wants to slot one Phys ability to get Power Doop value, so this talent gives us a great Physical skill to use and solves that problem as well.
Row 4: This is what the build revolves around, super high value in spirit scaling Energy Overload. You can clear the entire Kurse Terminal bridge with one button. Feels nice.
Row 5: We run Pulsing Wrath to give us an EO recharger and a damage layer. Not great, not bad. Maximum Force can work for a more hybrid build with more melee fillers, but thats not us.
Infinity Points:
Order is up for preference, but I'll highlight getting 150pts in the different gems is the priority. Superhuman in the STR gem is fine but should be one of your last priorities. I'd even argue that dropping it for raw +Energy might be worth it until later in the IP game, and only really starts getting gains when +energy is a smaller increase to the hero at later IP.
