Hello! This is a guide to help you clear the cosmic trial on low IP with common gear you can easily find anywhere. While this isn't an end game Nightcrawler build, it is similar to the teleport build used at end game. End game build here.
Clear Video:
Set Up
I followed the guidelines Lil set in his guides, which is a cap of 150 infinity points, and no gear that requires a ridiculous amount of grinding. Acquiring 150 infinity points does not take very long. Technically this build is 152 Infinity Points because Temporal Loophole costs 4 points, but 150-152 IP takes very little time. To quote Lil.
I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.
The purpose of this build is to be mobile and have decent enemy and aoe clear. I personally play a swords build, but that build is very single target focused.
Synergies
I used mostly typical physical damage melee synergies and fighting + speed stats.
Infinities
I spent points in Temporal Loophole because attack speed is a very good stat, and having an extra dash and higher move speed is always nice qol.
Gear
- I used the best ilvl 70 dps legendary because I wanted to kill everything fast and Nightcrawler is very mobile, so surviving isn't much of an issue.
is okay too.
Artifacts: The artifacts I used are all common easy to find ones that don't require target farming.
,
, and
all raise crit rating and/or brutal rating so you can get some nice orange and red numbers. If you have boss artifacts such as
and
, use them because they're way better dps.
Slots 1-5: I used Nightcrawler's Slot 1-5. I used the swords over the practice sticks because they have crit rating.
Ring:
The damage buff from the signet will have 100% uptime because Nightcrawler is very mobile and is always using movement powers. Look for one that has 25%+ damage. A defensive or offensive cosmic ring works if you can't find a midtown signet.
Medallion:
is best in slot,
and
are also decent choices.
Catalyst: 50% health shield and the burst heal, not so much for the heal but for the 100 spirit. Nightcrawler can run into spirit issues. Invisibility on medkit use is good too, thanks to Nightcrawler getting bonus damage from some of his powers if he's stealthed or invisible
Team Up
Jessica Jones, grouping up enemies is really good. Quicksilver does the same thing but on a higher cooldown if you're tired of Jessica Jones.
Playstyle
You'll be teleporting and spamming powers off cooldown a lot.
- You won't be using this much because your powers have low cooldowns. I chose a basic because Nightcrawler can run into spirit issues. Using
is fine too. For end game you'll want to drop this attack for proper non-basic filler.
- This is your dash/teleport. Nightcrawler's is special for two reasons - it has more charges and a lower cooldown than any other dash power in the game, and it puts you in stealth, which gives
and
an 100% damage buff.
- This power is mostly used to restore a charge of the next power...
- On top of being your vulnerability power and a fairly hard hitting aoe, it also leaves an aoe ground dot. I recommend using this against oncoming normal enemies you aren't directly attacking so you can clear enemies faster. Spam this off cooldown against bosses.
- A hard hitting cooldown power, make sure you're stealthed/invisible before casting this for the damage bonus.
- A strong cooldown layer. Use it off cooldown.
- A strong aoe dive attack with a low cooldown. Make sure you are stealthed/invisible before using this power for the damage bonus.
- Signature. Thanks to the Obscuring Brimstone talent in the fourth row, this power is guaranteed to critical and provides you with 5 seconds of free invisibility so you can use
and
without needing to dash beforehand.
Hopefully this guide helps you clear the cosmic trial with ease so you can get big loot drops and those sweet cosmic artifacts. Thanks to Lil for the other Cosmic Trial guides and the format. He's doing great work helping out beginners and getting them into the end game.
Thanks for reading!
