Hello! This is a guide to get you through the Cosmic Trial with Nova.

Set Up

I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.

This build comfortably did the Trial with 120+ seconds left on both boss phases.

 

Synergies

We're focusing on our archetype stats - Speed and Energy - after that we're going for Crit Chance and Area Damage. Squirrel Girl and Wolverine as well of course for boss damage and bruts.

 

Infinities

I put 6 ranks into Energy in the Reality Gem.

 

Gear

For legendary  gives us lots of crit.

For artifacts   , ,   and  give us lots of damage.  You can farm all of them in Midtown Manhatten!

Slot 2 : A rare with CHR, CDR, BDR and Cosmic Might or Cosmic Bulwark is preferred if you can farm one.

Slot 4 : A rare with BSR, CDR, BDR and Cosmic Might or Cosmic Bulwark is preferred if you can farm one.

Slot 5 : is likely BIS until raid gear, but is fine.

Farm SSB for the ring.  A rare with BSR/BDR or Energy/BSR is also good.

Team Up

Any Team-Up works, Jessica Jones or Clea can be nice for grouping enemies up and their respective survivability buffs.

 

Playstyle

Nova is a little technical but once you get used to him he isn't so bad.

 

I personally don't use a filler on him, but I've seen many use to good effect.

For how I tend to play him, Nova's entire rotation is based around maximizing uptime and taking advantage of Gravimetric Acceleration to do so.  The rest is keeping your layers active and spamming along with .

The layers are , , , .  Otherwise use  then  and repeat these two until  ends.  To get the rest of the CD back I reapply each layer and use a few  to quickly get back into the , then rinse and repeat- reapplying layers when they fall off.  The trick is to make sure you save 2 charges of  at going into sig so you can do the Pulsar spam correctly inside .  I'm sure some Nova mains can give you a better breakdown but this is what tends to work for me in my limited time playing Nova so far.

I tend to use  either on the Hydra Hulk Busters or Red Skull himself.
