Hello! This is a guide to get you through the Cosmic Trial with Cyclops. Note: This is NOT the best Cyclops. It is NOT end game Cyclops. This is intended to get you through the Cosmic Trial so you can farm gear and move on to a bigger and better build.

Set Up

I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.

Synergies

For Synergies I used what I had available. There were some good ones, boss damage, crit damage, brut damage. I did not have the ideal synergies. I would maybe go for some more +energy damage synergies. I found Cyclops to be lacking damage so I would focus my synergies there. If you are maining Cyclops Thor and Star Lord may be good adds. I put a strong DPS choice in my synergies on the build. That is not what I had.

Infinities

As I said in the Set Up. I capped myself at 150 (ish) IP. I put 38 ranks into Temporal Loophole in the Time Stone. Attack Speed and Movement Speed are both incredibly powerful.

Gear

 - is your best bet for damage at ilvl 70. The  or   are also valid choices. I went with Gungnir but if I were to play him into later game and got an ilvl 80 item it would be the Control Rod or a . I normally advocate for a  but in this case I just feel like Cyke's damage is too low to take a defensive option.

I just used his character specific Uniques for slots 1,2,3 and 4. They're just fine. The  gives bonuses when using Iceman, Jean and Beast. We will be using all three of these, so... Yay! In slot 5 I used . I just did not have enough damage the first 3 times I tried the trial so I had to upgrade some gear to get through. You can get this to drop from Doom. It also says it is a reward from an achievement and can also come out of Blue Mystery Boxes. This isn't the only option in Slot 5, but I had one in my box so I used it.

All of these items proved damage and + to energy or Intelligence - which in turn provide more damage. It really felt like this was what Scott needed the most to clear the trial was more damage. So I grabbed as much as I could.

 - Its got +to Energy. The Cosmic version also gives + to all Stats. Some + to damage stats, a little health and some Spirit on hit.

Team Up

My first thought was Jessica Jones, being a ranged character I wanted something to group the enemies and be a pseudo tank for me. I did not have enough damage to clear the trial so I switched to Agent Coulson. As far as I know he's the highest damage Team Up in the game.

Playstyle

Passing the trial on Cyclops definitely was not the easiest. Other heroes just have more oomph. I failed 3 times and moved items and talents around to find something that cleared.
I finally landed on the build above, I am using 3 summons basically on cool down. Jean and Iceman have similar durations and CDs so they are up near constantly. The signature you also want to spam on CD. The final row talent makes your signature come off cooldown faster when you use your Call-In powers. The ricochet beam is great for clearing the minions that come with Lady Hydra and Red Skull, obviously the signature does too.

The difficulty for Cyclops comes when he's got Lady Hydra and then Red Skull alone, after the minions are dead. Improved Optics in your second row makes your focused beam do more damage. I started to gauge what damage I could face tank to keep damaging rather than dodging. Having + spirit when you use your medkit really helped too. Just hold down your focused beam on the boss. Summon whenever they come off cd. Use your sig right on cd and hope your damage is enough. If your energy runs out form spamming the Focused beam it should recharge while you fire off some ricochet beams. Try to keep pumping damage the whole time. If your damage isnt enough farm more IP - find artifacts and Uniques like I have.

I was not super impressed with Cyclops' ult but I used it near the end when I had Red Skull alone, just after a shield phase.

To recap this is not the end game Cyclops guide. It's not definitive at all. I know most people will level Cyclops at some point (ideally earlier as his XP synergy makes leveling all characters a bit quicker) and if you want to take him to Cosmic I hope this guide helps you do that. That way you can move on to bigger and better guides!

(I did not try Punchclops - feel free. Luke has a new Tahiti version of it. You can find it here: https://itembase.mhbugle.com/build/8651/ He recommends you don't play it. But you do you.)

Thanks!
