Hey all! I hope you're enjoying Tahiti!
This is my build for a properly tuned Rhody that is an area focused ranged build. In this guide I'm aiming to cover optimal gearing and talent choices with a few options in the mix. Most of the builds coming out of the tuning pass were hitting roughly 1:35 ttk @ 1k IP and Rhody was right there. One of the most impactful tuning adjustments allowed the machine gun buffs (enhanced ammo) to stack! This has streamlined his rotation and made him much more enjoyable to play!
Rotation/Priority:
Once you have established your opener, Plasma Cannon, Clear the Room and Spitfire should all line up in succession.
•
Spends all your build-up heat. Straight line damage that buffs our supressing fire and gives us a 10% damage reduction (if talented into 3:2). Use this when available to prevent locking out your other abilities.
•
Hold down your left click. This doesn't lock onto your target, so feel free to spin around without letting go.
•
This applies a strong ground based DoT and vulnerability, as well as buffing our supressing fire.
•
Good AoE move that buffs our supressing fire.
•
Signature move that does a boatload of AoE damage. Aim in the general direction of your target or spin to win and clear all the mobs on your screen.
•
Good AoE damage that leaves a ground based DoT. Spread out the charges every 5-6 sec if you talented into 3:1.
•
AoE damage that restores suit power and gives us a short defensive shield.
Alternative Gear Choices:
We have some options here, but it comes down to Power Duration on our items. Power duration extends the DoTs on Hammer of War, Plasma Cannon and extends our machine gun (enhanced ammo) buffs and others.
Slot 1:
->
• The Crossbones slot 1 unique came close to a Fragment and Rhody's slot 1 will work as a placeholder.
Slot 2:
• a well-rolled Doc Oc arms really pull this Area build together with a ton of crit, damage and 5 stats. Rhody's slot 2 does a fine job as a placeholder.
Slot 3:
• The skull coat wins out with power duration and a hefty amount of brut strike/damage on top of raw damage. Rhody's slot 3 is really good, but loses out due to the power duration on the Skull Coat.
Slot 4:
• Rhody's slot 4 is well-rounded, despite missing power duration. If you have a very well rolled Skrull Military Uniform vs Rhody's slot 4 (poorly rolled) it may win out. This one kinda comes down to personal preference. If the Skrull Military Uniform will allow you another tick from your Plasma Cannon, it may be worth it. Ultimately, you want a well rolled Tank Treads.
Slot 5:
• Cobra hood is more damage, but lacking in the power duration department. Use whichever works out best for you.
Ring:
-->
-->
• Sling ring is good for another defensive boon, but Rhody has a longer sig cooldown. A 3 Durability/BSR ring isn't as effective as a well rolled Shield Grad ring and the ICP ring is worse off. An Omega ring may take the crown here, but I haven't found a great one, yet.
Medallion:

• Here we have an option. A Doom medallion does more damage than a Doc Oc, but the Doc Oc has a sizeable quality of life boost with up to 20% power radius, alongside damage and crit chance to most of out abilities. 20% doesn't sound like much, but the difference is tremendous. Try out both. If you can live without the power radius QoL, the Doom medallion is better. Hydra medallion is up there as well, but it's just raw damage with a defensive bump.
Artifacts:
-->
-->
---->
• SWGN and GoK were close. Seige will work out better with higher power duration, but unpredictable. Vibro falls behind in damage and Crystal would work if you wanted another random defensive bubble.
Legendary:
• M'Kraan and Axe tested better than bow and Gunny is the i70 option. Given they were about even, M'Kraan wins due to the additional health.
Insignia:

• Any of these will work out fine. You're looking for Critical Damage + Area/CHR/BSR/BDR
Infinity Points:
1.) TIme Gem - Temporal Loophole 38 points
2.) Mind Gem - Deep thought 100 points
3.) Mind Gem - Mental Focus 150 points
4.) Power Gem - Strike Through 75 points
5.) Space Gem - Durability 6 points
6.) Reality Gem - Potency 150 points
Now that some +1 attirbute bonuses are unlocked, feel free to dump points into:
• Mind over matter (6) in Mind Gem
• Max out Temporal Loophole in Time Gem
• 1 point into each damage proc. They are on the right side of each gem
• Dump the rest into Durability in Space Gem
Talents/Traits:
Row 1: Can't go wrong here. Set it and forget it.
Row 2: The other talents in this row simply come out worse than 2:1
Row 3: Here we have an option. 3:1 tested out for a slightly higher damage output and the 2 charges are convient for hammer of war, but 3:2 gives us a defensive benefit which you'll want in Omega content. This one is up to you, but if you find yourself routinely inspecting the floor, this will help you out.
Row 4: Another pair of options here where 4:1 will give you a short shield when you use Built for War and a revive, where 4:3 works as a passive defensive boost. 4:1 was my personal choice in this row since that shield can save a death.
Row 5: Here we decide how to handle heat. 5:1 gives us a damage boost to most abilities and makes us keep an eye out on heat. If you find the heat mechanic annoying to deal with and you're willing to give up 15% damage to most abilities, 5:3 is an option that will turn Spitfire into an 8 second cooldown you can fire in sucession with Plasma Cannon and Clear the Room.
