Hello! This is a guide to help you clear the cosmic trial on low IP with common gear you can easily find anywhere. This is similar to the build I'm using for end game, except I'm using higher end gear. I'm not sure if a similar build is currently available on mhbugle.
Clear Video:
Set Up
I followed the guidelines Lil set in his guides, which is a cap of 150 infinity points, and nothing that requires a ridiculous amount of grinding. 150 infinity points does not require too much grinding. To quote Lil.
I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.
The purpose of this build is I like Lockheed more than physical Kitty. Both builds are good, but I think Lockheed hybrid is better aoe clear than pure physical. Also, Lockheed is a cutie.
Synergies
I used area + stat + physical and energy damage synergies for this build. Human Torch and Magneto are chosen because every single skill in this build is area-tagged aside from . Other good synergies are Thor and X-23. X-23 works because walking through walls is a bleed power, despite not being labeled as one.
Infinities
I dumped points into Fighting for more damage and the +1 all stats bonus. Fighting vs. Intelligence is simply a matter or preference over a tiny bit of crit rating or a tiny bit of crit damage, respectively. This build doesn't benefit much from attack speed and you already get an extra dash from the Phase Rush talent.
Gear
- Kitty has great aoe clear, a buff providing a ton of health regen, and three invincible skills, so I just used the best ilvl 70 dps legendary. If you are dying, then using
is fine.
Artifacts: The artifacts I used are all common easy to find ones that don't require target farming. ,
,
, and
all raise crit rating and/or brutal rating so you can get some nice orange and red numbers. If you have boss or event artifacts such as
and
, use them because they're better dps.
Slots 1-5: I simply used all of Kitty's uniques. She has decent uniques which are more than enough for the trial.
Ring: I used a brutal rating and brutal damage cosmic to get BIGGER REDDER NUMBERS. +3 fighting or intelligence ring is better than brutal damage, but I don't have that. A is BiS but it requires Danger Room farming, and this guide is meant to get you into cosmic patrols ASAP.
Medallion: >
. Power duration is an extremely powerful stat for this build, and War Skrull is better damage than Doctor Doom.
Team Up
Jessica Jones, grouping up enemies is really good. Quicksilver does the same thing but on a higher cooldown if you're tired of Jessica Jones.
Playstyle
There's a bit of nuance to the order of skills on a single target, but against mobs you'll mostly be spamming your lockheed skills and quicksand.
- This is your left click/main attack skill. It's a bit clunky, but it's by far the best damage and aoe. You can also shift+hold left click.
- This is your dash, but it's also an extra damage layer thanks to the phase rush talent in the fourth row! Be sure to apply this after
, or
to get the extra damage from the coordinated attacks talent on the third row.
- This is your buff. It is a multiplicative 25% damage bonus. If you don't know what that means, it means a LOT of damage. Unnecessary for clearing trash mobs, but use it off cooldown against stronger enemies.
- This is your vulnerability power. You are invincible during the animation, and it provides a cc effect too. Start Red Skull and Madame Hydra with this power and use it off cooldown.
- This is a dot and trash clear. Use it after
and
because the dot duration lines up with those skills' cooldowns.
- This power, on top of looking cool, is a nice 15% melee damage buff. I recommend using it after
so your cooldowns line up.
- This is another dot and trash clear. Cast it together with
. Unlike
, it's a ground dot and has no direct damage component.
- This is your signature, it's also big aoe and burst. It's too much for normal trash enemies, but great against stronger mobs like mechs and hulkbusters. Make sure you apply
and
first, then use this power off cooldown.
Hopefully this guide helps you clear the cosmic trial with ease so you can get big loot drops and those sweet cosmic artifacts. Thanks to Lil for the other Cosmic Trial guides and the format. He's doing great work helping out beginners and getting them into the end game.
Thanks for reading!
