Hello! This is a guide to get you through the Cosmic Trial with Doctor Doom. Note: This is NOT the best Doctor Doom. It is NOT end game Doctor Doom. You will not find the BiS items in this build.
Set Up
I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.
Not all end game builds work equally well with less IP and gear. I tried a couple of the builds that already existed and found one that worked well to get through the Cosmic Trial.
This build is very similar to Frostacus' Ranged Summoner build: https://itembase.mhbugle.com/build/8744/ I made a couple changes because my only goal was to get through the trial and I used less IP and lower tier artifacts than he has. His build would be a great one to swap to once you've passed the trial.
Synergies
Being perfectly honest I only had my cyclops synergy on. I forget to change my synergies quite often. So I just put the same synergies on this build that Frost has on his. If you plan to play a summoner it's a good idea to level alot of those characters up.
Infinities
I normally go with the Time Gem - Temporal Loop Hole for the Attack and Move Speed and it felt very noticable on Doom. We spam while waiting for CDs to come up.
GEAR
- This is a difference from Frosts' build. At i70 Gungnir is more damage. If you were playing Doom past the trial you'd probably want to get a
at i80.
For artifacts I took - because it has good stats for us and thematically the man should have his own hand.
basic +damage artifact. Not too hard to find.
Also fits thematically and has good stats. I took
as a basic damage artifact that's really easy to get.
I took the Man-Ape medal because its pretty easy to find, especially if you level in midtown.
His own uniques work great for slot 1-5.There's better in some slots but we're trying to make gear as easy to get as we can.
For the medkit you want the shield on med kit use. Other than that prioritize your stats (Int, Energy), health, and health on hit. Normally we want +spirit on medkit use but on this build we're not spending much resource at all.
The Nick Fury isignia gives us another summon.
Team Up
Jessica Jones is kind of becoming my default here. The grouping is just too good.
Playstyle
Basically we're going while we wait for our summon CDs to come up. When summon CDs are up use them.
is there to make your summons target what you want. The biggest change I made from Frost's build was in the first row of talents. I took the left choice which makes
free to use because I was having resource issues that can be solved with IP and crafting. For ease I just went with this talent (shoutout to Symbiote for suggesting it in in-game chat). If you are not having resource issues than I suggest taking the far right talent for more damage.
- Filler. Free to use because of talent choice.
- Is a DoT and applies vulnerability. Also helps you get Magic back if you're not using the first row talent I did. Does not go on CD. Do not spam. I casted it right after
- it has an 8 sec CD which matches
duration.
- Summons DoomBots. Cast on CD can be up 100%.
- Escape, reposition, breaks CC. Regenerates magic.
- Signature. Summons bots. Be a bit discerning with this. Duration is only 10s but CD is 40s. So you can not have these bots up all the time. Use when you know you can hit Madame Hydra or Red Skull for whole duration. Don't waste into a shield.
- Summon. Cast on CD can be up 100%.
- Damage + Stun. Use on CD.
- Not there for the damage but more to direct your summons. Especially useful on the Trial. When the bosses shield your minions will still sit there and beat on the shield effectively doing 0 DPS. Use this to direct them to the minion.
Hopefully this helps you clear the Cosmic Trial so that you can start farming your best gear and move on to bigger and better content and bigger and better guides (like Frostacus' Guide linked above)! Have fun out there.
