Hello! This is a guide to get you through the Cosmic Trial with Cable. Note: This is NOT the best Cable. It is NOT end game Cable. You will not find the BiS items in this build.
Set Up
I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.
Not all end game builds work equally well with less IP and gear. I tried a couple of the builds that already existed and found one that worked well to get through the Cosmic Trial.
All I could think of when I thought of Cable was Marvel vs Capcom and him jumping out and filling the whole screen with his energy rifle. It was such an OP team up move. So naturally I wanted to build him ranged and use that gun. I did not pass the trial ranged, I was short damage. Melee absolutely cruised through it. I didn't even change my gear/synergies from the ranged set up. Since I'm trying to make guides for passing the Cosmic Trial with minimal gear/IP investment, I'd recommend going melee early and transitioning to ranged when you find a build and items that work for you.
Synergies
Black Panther, Cable, Elektra, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Squirrel Girl, War Machine, Wolverine. Melee and Mental Damage. His scythe abilities do mental.
Infinities
I went with the Time Gem - Temporal Loop Hole for the Attack and Move Speed.
Gear
- I just went for a high damage option here and this one is my favorite at ilvl 70.
- has some damage stats and adds some beefiness.
- has damage stats and + to energy.
Obviously if you have a use that instead of
but I know that latter is a lot easier to find that's why I put it on my builds.
- has fighting, mental damage brutal strike and health. Everything a growing Cable needs/wants.
I used all of Cable's uniques for slot 1-5.
Our medkit is pretty important as well. Get a catalyst that gives you back spirit on medkit use to get some spirit back every time you use it and the shield on use.
Team Up
Definitely Jessica Jones for the group up.
Playstyle
Get in there and swing that psythe around!
- Our 3rd row talent makes this a basic power that costs no spirit to use, increases all of our psimitar damage in general. Bind it to left click and hold it down while waiting for CDs.
- I thought this was going to be a jump. I envisioned jumping into groups of enemies and going to work with my psythe. It in fact is not a jump. Use it on CD anyway. Good damage ability and thanks to our 4th row talent increases psimitar damage by 25% for 10s. With an 8s cooldown if you're on top of things you should always have that damage bonus. Counts as a psimitar ability.
- Our first row talent increases this ability's damage, and causes it to make enemies vulnerable. Use on CC, keep that vulnerability up.
- One of my least favorite evade abilities. I keep it on for the CC break.
- Signature. Just a damage cool down. Use on CD.
- Our 3rd row talent increases this abilities damage. It shoots out in a line in front of it but does more damage to enemies hit directly by the blade, so do that as much as possible. Use on CD, our biggest damage ability.
- Weakens enemies and makes them vulnerable. Keep it up at all times.
- Applies weakened and a DoT. Has 3 charges. Don't spam. Try to time out your dots. It's 8 seconds.
