Hello! This is a guide to get you through the Cosmic Trial with Black Cat. Note: This is NOT the best Black Cat. It is NOT end game Black Cat. You will not find the BiS items in this build.

Set Up

I capped myself at 150 Infinity Points for these trial guides. It won't take too long to build up that many. By the time you've leveled up a few characters for synergies and farmed some Heroic (Red) Challenges and terminals for some gear you may even be past 150 IP when you try the trial. Worst thing that can happen when you try the trial is you fail there is no punishment. So give it a shot and see if you're missing damage, survivability or both.

Not all end game builds work equally well with less IP and gear. I tried a couple of the builds that already existed and found one that worked well to get through the Cosmic Trial. Black Cat cleared pretty easily with a minute to spare on both Madame Hydra and Red Skull - she wiped out the minions super fast but slowed down on the bosses a bit. She was never in danger of losing one life let alone all 9.

Synergies

Angela, Cable, Elektra, Hulk, Moon Knight, Nightcrawler, Squirrel Girl, War Machine, Wolverine, X-23

Infinities

Alot of times my first go to with Infinities is the attack and movement speed node (Remilla does a great job explaining attack speed and the infinity system @RemiFromMH on YT) in the Time Stone - (Temporal Loophole)

Gear

I ended up using  it's a great damage option for most heroes. Black Cat has 9 lives and never got close to losing a single one of them. I don't think  is needed here.

My Black Cat did not have great gear. Her slot 1-5 Uniques are pretty solid and will serve you fine for the trial. I also did not have the catalyst or Ring I put in this build. Aim for a catalyst w/ spirit regen on medkit use and put on a midtown signet if you have one.

When you're gearing you may have to make a choice between FIGHTING and SPEED attributes. Always choose FIGHTING

The only Artifact really worth mentioning is the . It applies vulnerable when you use your signature. There is no other way to apply vulnerable in this build.

Team Up

I used Jessica Jones for my team up because I liked the way she groups enemies up for me to jump on.

Playstyle

The first thing you need to wrap your head around for Black Cat is that she does not generate spirit. Her  gives you a small spirit regen. Finding a Catalyst that has spirit regen on med kit use could help alot. I did not have one when I finished the trial - so it is still doable w/out. Remember your bleeds last for a duration so you dont need to spam them. You can coserve some spirit this way if you need to.

The other cool mechanic for Black Cat is her 9 lives. You have 9 cheat deaths. You will come back to life w/ a small amount of health bar - so if you see yourself go down get out of danger quick so you can regen back up. I've lost multiple lives in a row not paying attention.

Our first row talent is also worth noting. It gives a bonus +2% to crit and brutal chance. It also gives a 2% chance on hit to kill a non boss enemy instantly. Everyone of the shield minions got killed off by this passive for me. I assume it has the chance to trigger off dots as well as attacks - which there's a bunch of instances of damage hitting at once for Cat. Either that and/or I got extremely lucky.

 - I use this as a filler. It doesn't build spirit but it doesn't spend any either. When your traps are down and your enemy already has your bleeds on them spam this.

 - Thanks to our 2nd Row Talent we have 3 charges of these. You need two down to create a beam between them that does damage. Having the third charge makes it easy to keep that beam up as durations of previous traps end or the boss moves. Once you get 2 traps down you dont have to throw the third right away. You can wait to reposition if needed.

 - A jump - so you can use it to get onto enemies. A bit of area and it applies a bleed. You want to have all 3 of your bleeds up as much as possible.

 - Your roll. Use it to get out of sticky situations or reposition. It also stealths you.

- Our fourth row talent turns our signature into The Cat's Meow. Its a large aoe that does a ton of damage. Also remember due to our  it will apply vulnerable to our enemies. We want to use this early in fights to maximize our damage.

- Will stealth you. Buffs your damage and restores some spirit. Also makes it so you steal loot periodically. Not like loot for you character, small treasures you can sell to a vendor for credits.

 - Until you get your last row talent this can only be used from Stealth. After getting the talent at lvl 56 you don't need to be stealthed to use it anymore which makes it alot easier to use. Our 2nd bleed and our strongest bleed. You definitely want to make sure this one is up all the time.

 - A movement ability where Cat spins and applies a bleed to enemies she hits. Our 3rd bleed. Also what I used to reposition and move about most of the time. Alot of end game builds I looked at did not have her roll on their bar. I assume they use this for evading attacks and moving about. I kept the roll for the stealth and extra safety.

Start with your signature (especially on the bosses) stay on the move and keep your bleeds up. Even if you make some missteps and take damage you didn't mean to, or should have dodged and she goes down you have 9 lives.

Hopefully this helps you clear the Cosmic Trial so that you can start farming your best gear and move on to bigger and better content and bigger and better guides! Have fun out there.

Thanks!
