11/03/17 - Made some item, infinity and rotation changes with Kaideh's help.

So this is gonna be my first actual, real, complete build. Magik's worth it. I have been playing her as a summoner since she first released and the BUE has actually given us a more complete summoner build. I hope this guide helps whomever wants to play Magik as the Queen of Limbo and have her demons murder everthing. I'm still adapting to the summoner changes, so expect movement in this guide.

Please comment your thoughts and worries and upvote if you feel like it.

ROTATION AND POWERS

Her rotation is really easy and flows perfectly.

Okay, so basically, the rotation starts with Soul Brand, which grants vulnerability from both Magik and her demons. Soul Cleaving to proc the ring which will boost our summons. Then, Dark Alliance grants us 2 more demons and a 25% damage boost, which leads us to using use Command N'astirh and Command Lesser Demon to summon them now that we've procced that damage bonus. Then Back From Limbo and Otherworldly Nova have to be used in rapid succession so that the limbo minion gets the whole damage buff from the signature. He takes like a second to spawn and start attacking, so he should start attacking right when you use the sig. Fill the rest of your time with Soul Cleaving and keep refreshing Soul Brand for the DoT, the debuff and the 2 Vengeful Spirits that it should trigger (whenever they get around to fixing this).

After the initial rotation, just use the demon powers (N'astirh, Lesser, Alliance) off-cooldown. If you do that, once every 3 uses of Alliance, Dark Alliance, Back From Limbo and Otherworldly Nova should be ready at basically the same time. Hit them in that order to cover the sig and the minion with the Alliance damage buff. Use Back From Limbo and Otherworldly Nova always together so the buff from the sig covers the Limbo minion.

And if the rotation is timed right, the whole thing fits in the 5s proc from the Spear of the White Gorilla Tribe for extra damage. If they ever fix that (again).

TALENTS

  1. 1. Deadly Fangs. This talent gives us +15% damage to our main melee spender, so there's that.
    • Why not use "Bile Demons"? They just don't do as much damage as the Lesser Demons, so there's really no point in that. And we'd lose the melee buff damage too.
    • Why not use Spirit Fangs if we're choosing this talent? Basically, because it doesn't fit on the bar. We'd have to change the TP, the spender or the vulnerability power. Leaving the melee spender out would make half the talent useless and leave a couple of item procs out. You could change it for Soul Brand, but you'd have to change the 2nd row talent and that would in turn lower our DPS. And you could change it for the TP but then... you dead. So no fangs.
  2. 2. Blood in the Air. Grants extra vulnerability to Magik and her demons. This is a no-brainer.
    • "But wait, you could use Branded Mind and then put the Fangs in the bar!" Yeah, you could but that's actually a loss of damage becuase you loose the vulnerability to the demons.
  3. 3. Dark Alliance. Gives us more demons, a damage buff and a damage shield. So that's nice.
    • Why not Limbo's Enforcer? Sure, Fist has bigger numbers than N'astirh but Dark Alliance gives us more demons. And the more, the merrier. Plus, the buffs from Dark Alliance are really good.
  4. 4. Restless Spirits. It gives us extra damage when we use the Sould Brand. Or it should. It's bugged right now for Soul Brand but maybe they'll fix it someday.
    • Why not Sever the Thread? Again, Soul Sever doesn't fit into the bar. The only thing you could swap it with is Soul Cleaving but that leaves us without a spender, so... no.
    • "Wait wait wait... If this talent is bugged at the moment, maybe use the Fangs? I really wanna use the fangs, Ked!" Well, I tried it. It doesn't do more damage at the moment, so it definitely won't when they fix it.
  5. 5. Otherwordly Command. 100% more damage to the minions for 10 seconds every 30? Yeah, awesome.
    • "But Disciple of Limbo looks nice!" And it really is for builds who use summons as support, but for a pure summoner build, 100% to ALL the minions is better.

INFINITY SYSTEM

Okay so Magik has the best of lucks and her main attributes are in the same gems than the brut and crit buffs. So yay for that. We're not gonna focus too much on them

  • Mind Gem. Start with Calculated Efficiency and then Of One Mind, Mind over Matter and Intelligence. Magik is a bit spirit hungry at the moment, so you need the spirit cost reduction. You probably don't need to max it, just find the balance with your current gear.
  • Power Gem. This one is obvious, isn't it? Stand United all the way. Then Potency.
  • Reality Gem. Magic Bullets and then Tilt the Odds. Everything in this gem is really good to Magik but those are the best ones to start.
  • Soul Gem. Strike Through, then Strike True and then Fighting.
  • Space Gem. Red Shift and then Micro-Warps. Because that's just more damage to the sig. Move the points from Red Shift if you die a lot to the defense nodes.
  • Time Gem.  Temporal Loophole and then Time Flux.

The important thing about the infinity system is that you can fit it to your needs. If you feel like you're dying all over the place, just move some points around to defensive nodes. Basically, make it work for you, the stuff above is my suggestion.

GEAR

Artifacts

  •  Hood of the Reaper.  This thing looks really nice on paper. I don't have one yet, so I can't test it, but it fits Magik perfectly.

And every artifact blessed with  Blessing of Frigga for that extra summon damage.

Now, tbh, I tried to test most combos since the summoner changes but when Nutso gave me the same results as the cosmic M-UEB, I gave up. It doesn't make any kind of sense. The artifact combo above is best on paper, so I'm going with that.

Medallion

  •  Mr. Sinister Medallion. Since Magik doesn't use Intelligence, this medallion is the frontrunner now. And it gives us more summons. And let's be honest, we really need the summon duration.
  •  Doctor Doom Medallion. Similar to Mr. Sinister but more on the defensive side. Use it if you need it, they're pretty close.
  •  Infernal War Skrull Medallion. Good alternative, but not as good since the attribute changes. The procs are nice but most of Magik's damage come from the summons.
  •  Man-Ape Medallion. Good stats but the summon damage just doesn't come near the other two medallions.

Relic

Uru-forged

Legendary

Ring

  •  One of the Nine. The best there is at what it does. And we can trigger both procs easily.
  •  Bloodstone Demonband. I hate this things because they never roll right. But if you have one with summon damage, health on hit and +core stats, it's a nice alternative.

Uniques

  •  Spear of the White Gorilla Tribe. This thing is the staple of the build. The summon damage is too damn good and it covers our whole main rotation. This is the one to aim for. RIGHT NOW, THE PROC DOESN'T WORK, SO GO FOR THE FRAGMENT.
    •  Fragment of Twilight. The Fragment is pretty awesome, with a crazy high amount of crit and brut damage. Since the Spear isn't working right now, we'll use this.
    •  Soulsword. A good alternative if you're having trouble getting a Spear.
  •  Phoenix Force Harness. Defense procs, the spirit cost reduction, +3 of each core stat proc and CHR/BSR. Yup.
    •  Sinister's Bioengineered Cuirass. It's pretty good and boosts our summon damage but it doesn't perform as well as the Harness for me. Good alternative. If you can't get one of her uniques, just find a rare boss unique! Yay!
    •  Standard Issue X-Men Uniform. This thing is pretty great and fits Magik, but I'm a sucker for CHR and BSR. This thing's stats can be stacked somewhere else, which makes me lean towards the Harness.
  •  Earth-4210 Boots. This is just really good all around. And with our combo of melee spender and soul brand, we can make use of all of the procs.
  •  Octobot Controller. Extra damage reduction, CHR and BSR, summon heals and summon damage and duration. Awesome stuff.

Enchants and challenge bonus:

Insignia

  •  Insignia of Cyclops. A pretty good insignia with a pretty good aura. For stats: CHR and then CDR or BSR.

TEAM-UPS

  • Clea Team-Up. Active mode. She has nice damage and heals that affect both Magik and her summons.
  • Agent Coulson Team-Up. Active mode. Just for sheer damage.
  • Magik Team-Up. Away mode. For that extra summon damage, the health on hit and that bit of extra demon mayhem.
  • Sunspot Team-Up. Active mode. For thematic new-mutanty purposes.

That would be all. Any questions, suggestions or anything, feel free to leave a comment. Seriously, right now I'm adapting to the summon changes so I may have missed some stuff. And if you like the build or don't want Magik to murder you in your sleep, leave a positive vote. It'd be much appreciated. Have fun with your murdering minions!

PS: Thanks to Kaideh for letting me borrow his guide's look!
